Alright! Finally got around to ordering the 13 piece Irwin Bolt Extractor socket set! I picked them up on Amazon.com for $97ish with FREE shipping. They were 49% off!

Image

Grabbed the 13mm one, gave it a couple nice taps with the hammer to get it snug on the bolt, and started to hesitantly torque it with my 3/8 ratchet. And.... *POP*

That quick sharp sound a bolt makes when it hasn't moved in a while.
The sound that tells you... Yes, everything will be okay.
The sound that melts away all other stress from work, your social life, and the world outside your garage.

I love that sound. The sound of progress.

Anyway, they came off easy after that!

I also have a set of bolts to replace these ruined bolts.

I kept on for a minute and pulled off the valve cover and the disguisting, frail, putrid valve cover gasket. The half moon on the gasket did not want to part with the engine. It was stuck to the metal. Grabbed the pliers and pulled it off.

Closer shot to show how clean the top end is! Thanks to Bahn Brenner Motorsports for rebuilding this G60 2 owners ago! Roughly 30K mi. ago. Probably due for a Supercharger refresh. But it was boosting strong and not leaking so I'll leave it for now.

Ordered a new fan bracket and support today as my old one was only holding the radiator fan on by one arm. The other two were broken. I need a radiator fan as well. But for some reason those are a couple hundred dollars.
