Lets dive in.
Couple shots of the old bumper and damage

Removing. Surprisingly easy to get this off. No real tricky or hard to get to bits.

Test fitting. I did need to make a few adjustments to make the wheel arch line align up. Not sure if that's normal or just a product of a 65$ bumper cover. The passenger side where there was damage, now that I have the bumper cover off it's easy to see the fender is tweaked more than I thought it was. I think I'm going to try and find a nice OEM used fender and put that on. eBay looks like they're going for about 165 which would probably be cheaper than PDR. Just have to wait for one of the right color. Meh

While I was in there, I thought I'd check the "Snow Screen" and make sure it wasn't clogged. This is a fine screen upstream of the airbox that commonly get's clogged with debris. Looks like someone was there before me. It's gone.

Made some progress getting to the turbo. Most of the piping removed. Some of the manifold bolts out. This is where I left it for the night.

Little bit of a break. Had a 50mi race that had me busy.
Got the intake and extake :) off. I must say it's a pain in the butt getting those bolts out. Lot of fiddly fart stuff finding the right length adapters and such.
Image

With the mityvac on the actuator I loose about 1" hg every 2 minutes. As a control I did the same test on the new actuator and loose about 1/2" hg every 2 minutes. So... I guess I'm not sure if that's the problem or not; certainly there is a difference but is that extra amount enough to cause, I'm not sure. Actuator arm actually moves freely but I'm here so I'm going to finish the job and clean it out.
Image

Got all the bolts out and left it to soak with Kroil overnight
Image

Meh.. whoever gets this car after me can rest easy knowing all this shit's been done.

After soaking in Kroil (this stuff is awesome) I was able to separate the housing.
Here's the obligatory pictures. There is some rust and carbon buildup and I noticed that a few of the vanes felt notchy? when swiveling them so I'm feeling good about getting this thing cleaned up and re-installed. So far so good with no broken bolts. :unibrow:
