Re: mk2vr6 swap
Do you need a mk2 or 3 tank?
Re: mk2vr6 swap
Whatever fits. I have no idea.
Re: mk2vr6 swap
You can use b3 or b4 passat front cross member with a little modification, or build an adapter for the mk2 member. I have a spare passat cross member if you need it.

Re: mk2vr6 swap
Are you talking about the main subframe, a.k.a. K-frame?if so that should fit but no, the front crossmember will not fit.
It's not how fast you go. It's how well you go fast.

Re: mk2vr6 swap
I already have the VR6 k-frame in the car but I still need the crossmember under the radiator. Benno what is yours out of?
Does anyone know what park brake cables I need? I was thinking mk2 rear disc might they fit. Maybe you guys know for sure?

Re: mk2vr6 swap
I haven't had a lot of time or money to put in it lately after going to Europe so it's going really slow.
I pick up a crossmember from Benno before I left (b4? I believe.) I'm still in need of a transmission and linkage. I'm thinking an o2j or o2m.

Re: mk2vr6 swap
I got a little done this weekend. I think I have everything removed for the swap. Engine wiring harness, brake booster, pedal box (what a pain that was!), and also removed the entire trans mount from the subframe. I picked up an O2m 6 speed tranny from Trevor, I plan on using this in my swap!
I am having a few problems with this swap. 1) I have no idea what park break cables to use. 2) I can not find the correct rear strut mount hardware. All my extra mounts and all that I can order are 10mm. My rear struts have 12mmX1.5 threaded tops?! I'm super confused about that. 3) where did I put all of the bolts? They are all just gone.. I don't get it

Re: mk2vr6 swap
Yeah, I know these things. I have to relocate the trans mount on the subframe about a 1/2".
Then I need some custom axles to hook up the o2m flanges to the VR6 outer hubs. I'm not sure if I'm going to try and make my own (I'm a little nervous about balancing them.. And also breaking the welds) from what I've read there is a place online 'The Driveshaft Shop' that can make them. Its something like $800 for a set of axles and that's a bit steep for my taste, they are rated for way more power than I plan on putting down with a stock 12v.
I also need to figure out how to mount the ridiculously huge shifter box into a tiny mk2 housing.
Then I need to rework the hydraulic clutch lines too.. I will cross that bridge when I get there. No idea what I'm going to do there yet.
So yeah I know I can make it work. It's just going to be a bit more time and money than an o2a like I was planing on using.
