I've heard it is best to mount to temp sensor somewhere else down the line due to manifold heat soaking

Well the 1.8t sensor should be less prone to heat soaking. And I've heard the power gaskets will also help with that as well. Who knows if I'll notice any of these mods it's all for seen point anyway right?
Re: volkSWAGEN SweaterVest style
True true. if you have one of those infrared thermometers, test the temp of the the manifold. I'm just curious what it reads haha
check out this post, there's a lot of good info for cheap vr6 mods. here's what this guy said about IAT sensor:
"1.8t IAT(Intake air temperature) sensor-This has been proven to give 2whp on the dyno by Paul, need_a_vr6. The stock Iat sensor is closed element, and prone to heatsoaking in the vr manifold. The 1.8t sensor plugs directly in, and when wires are extended to a location that gets proper airflow, away from hot engine parts, proper Iat's are achieved. The ecu interprets this data, and gives a tick more ignition timing."

Re: volkSWAGEN SweaterVest style
I guess it's been over a year since I've done anything here. I think, maybe I finished with the major shaving and smoothing of my bumper for my mk3 today.
This bumper has been floating around my house for like three year.. Turns out I'm not a fan of body work. It takes along time and I don't know what I'm doing. I never claimed not to be a masochist when it comes to cars though.
Side note, in the process of buying a house (WITH A GARAGE!!) thinking about trying to find a compressor and maybe trying my hand at painting.

Just a heads up a contractor compressor won't have enough cfm to run a paint gun.
