I don't think I'm the person to set you straight, but I can tell you that you are going to run into tons of opinions in the tuning world, specifically with the MKIV and MKV world. People come from all sorts of backgrounds and recommend all sorts of things and most people will sell you anything. Find someone you can honestly trust that has experience with your car. Aeron knows his stuff. If you want another opinion, talk to Dion at TKO Motorwerks in Seattle (253)333-8856. TKO has done quite a few stage 3 Revo job, and countless stage 1 and 2 tunes. I talked to Dion about his opinion on several parts for my 1.8T, and he told me that he would sell me anything, but so many of them aren't necessary depending on the application.

Anyhooooo, if it were me in your seat with your car and parts, I would get a chip that I can tune further and get VAGCOM. There are tons of things to play with at that point and you can push the limits of your setup. However, I'm a network admin, not a tuning mechanic, so talk to the shops that have a chip and EBC before taking my word as gospel. If

Aeron becomes a Revo dealer, he can do a trial flash for you. If you like it, you can get the final flash which is not as limited as the trial (such as he can set it for your octane, boost agressiveness, upgrades, etc). If you drive up for the trial, I would bring money because you won't want to leave without it. I almost cried when the trial ran out on my MKIV. I was so upset that I went back and got it chipped without asking my wife. I told her the car did it. Like Christine only it has only killed a gopher and a small bird. Yeah. Like that...

If you go to the forementioned web site for Revo, you can read up on stage 3. If I remember right, a G28RS turbo upgrade, FMIC, upgraded internals and a few others will net you about 350-400 WHP. At that point, you have spent more than what the car is worth in just upgrades and you are skating the edge of reliability. If you don't have an LSD, I would get that before going stage 3. If you don't have nasty torque steer already, you will after the chip. Without an LSD, you won't have fun with the stage 3 power.

No word on it yet, but I may call and bother them some more tomorrow.

IIRC, I am out of Yellow Vac line. I know I had some, but I think it went on ebay or something. I will check.
