To find what happened...a picture is worth 1000 words:

Only cyl #3 blew up, and, with the exception of #3 the rest of the valves and the head are fine.

Any assumptions, accusations, or making fun of me...go for it!

Yeah it was the Passat...too bad cause it was a good car and ran great up until then.

it I'll make more in parts than selling the car, because it's in good shape.

You never heard of the Geo Storm? The holes in the block were added for performance.
The Hon-duh mod for that is duct tape your entire engine and then squirt NAWSSSS directly into the bag you have created around it.

I actually had a chick try to tell me that she extended her fuel feed line on her Prelude and wrapped it around the inside of a coffee can, and then mounted the can around the back of the AC compressor to super-cool the fuel. Then she looked at me with a straight face and told me it was worth at least 50 horse power. It was all I could do to not laugh in her face
