Last of the air-cooled tech's

Post by Custom VW »

OK

Air-cooled is slow, smelly, dirty, and old.
Air-cooled is also the best for off-road, and for a bit of wow while your driving. They are classic, yet underestimated. very reliable, very easy to maintain, and usually in pretty bad shape when you first get them.

I'm a dying breed, I'm an air-cooled tech. I work on water-cooled because eventually I'll need something to keep me going(and secretly they are way more fun to drive).

I still want an old Cal-style bus. My parents we air cooled drivers, type 1, 2, 3s. I like radiators. Because who doesn't want to blow coolant lines on the freeway?! :paranoid:

Also for a very eye-opening read on both the Beetle and VW itself, check out and read "Small Wonder" I can't remember the author's name. A good read, sometimes there are a lot of statistics and it gets slow, but pretty neat.

I love them both. I just wish I was more mechanically inclined, I'm mostly mechanically declined at this point.

Just got a Baja (fourth one), and can't wait to destroy it in an ORV park.
