Not likely - the motor will stall since the timing is gone - the top and bottom end stop turning. I wouldn't want to be around a motor thats turning 8K RPMS when a t-belt blows though...

yeah the timing belt is fine... it was just replaced in like april i think and they checked it and it was good... but as far as compression goes he said it had only about ten pounds but the engine would still turn over but not start? i cant really get a strait up answer from the guy on what exactly but im still tryin... probably picking it up tomorrow so i'll know more later

He doesn't sound like he has a clue what he's talking about. So when he is claiming 10 pounds, is he saying one of the cylinders? Or all of them read 10, which would be very unlikely they are all exactly the same. There is usually some variance between cylinder readings even on a good compression engine. Aeron could be onto something too when he said maybe the guy has a bad compression gauge?
Either way, sounds like the guy is lacking enough knowledge to give you a strait answer, do what Spencer DIDN'T do and get it out of there and have another place take a look before you end up having the wrong diagnostic and or work done on it.

i am with arin here bad comp gadge and what douse the bottem of the head look like you might just need to grind the valves and put a new head gasket in pistons dont just go unless you are running a turbo please let us no
