Trev  If it's the counter-flow ABA it will be interference. I don't know enough about the MKIII to know if his MY has the xflow, but I imagine sudden loss of compression could only be caused by a few things. More info would be good.

I vote all the piston rings decided to pack up and get the hell out of town.

I dunno man, I would say you need to know exactly why it has no compression. Otherwise your mech is full of it - the 8v is bombproof. When I sold my Jetta it had 138K and it was running strong.

If it has 10psi thats an issue, but you need to know why. Guys like MT-Getto and Renn and others can chime in and help you out if you get details. I'm in Billings so if you need a second pair of eyes get in touch with me - I'll help out where I can.

I just find it funny that one minute it was running, and then the next, no compression on any of the clyinders? sounds like a bad compression gauge to me!

A noob question for the gurus..On a non interference engine, if the timing belt breaks under high load, wont it still do major damage?
