Also, my deck has a rear USB but I wanted to be able to connect to my phone or thumb drive to that from a cord on the dash in the event I have my phone mounted like a GPS. So, I wanted a panel mount USB A connector. L-Com wanted almost 20 bucks, so I made my own.

This is a little nylon cap from ACE for 60 cents. PCB mount USB A ~50 cents, Old USB cable repurposed Free.

I'm going to try to tuck this into the bottom part of the A pillar.

What does the diode pack do?

There's an "active check control" on this car that lights up warning light if you have brake, rear, licence or head lights out and also checks the washer, coolant & oil levels. This is something to do with that system, I'm not exactly sure what. :retard:

Gotcha..... For some reason I was thinking it was related to the stereo.

Without seeing it firsthand, I think the Peripheral piece that came out of the dash was a common ground adapter. a lot of older German cars has "common grond" stereos and/or amplifiers. Aftermarket decks are not set up for common grounding, and the don't like it. Some Pioneer decks won"t even put out sound, as the deck thinks it has a speaker grounding out, which it does. And not everything in the Bible it true. I have been a 12V installer for nearly 15 years, and I always start RCA runs from the front. Always easier to hide the excess in the rear, and it keeps your sub dash much cleaner, just make sure you have a little slack, incase you have to pull the deck for some reason......

It looks good! Gotta love a clean install!

Thanks, it's nice to have some reassurance that I'm not smoking too much crack :)

Well I just couldn't handle the stains on the carpet so ...since i'm here... :\
I cheated a little bit and didn't take the heater core out, so I ended up cutting the 1" wide strip of carpet that connects over the hump underneath the heater core. It's completely covered and this saved me a bunch of work so.. yeah.
Sprayed it down with some Zep high traffic carpet cleaner "with enzymes" and scrubbed it with a brush then hosed it off for 45 minutes. It was dark so I don't know if it looks better or not. In the event that it still looks yucky I'm thinking of dying it. Has anyone used automotive carpet dye before? Thoughts on this stuff?
I was thinking of either the dupli-color or SEM stuff. After more interneting what about RIT dye, yes the craft store or walmart stuff used for dying fabric. Saw a post Over on LS1 that looks pretty good. With the dye you don't get a 'i just spray painted my carpet' crusty feel.
Found this too on the <gasp> honda </gasp> forums. Using rit again, this time soaking vs spraying on.

Anyways, oye! where'd the carpet go

oh there it is, just pulled. (i did a little victory dance, it was kinda a pain to get out)

My friend Alden can make that carpet look brand new! Call Extreme Carpet Cleaning and tell him Stoney sent you.

Finished up for now on the USB port.
It's okay. I may think about options. It just... looks weird to me. Might take the piece out again along with the A pillar cover thing and try to do a flush mount or something. With the curve of the pillar cover, the plug just doesn't fit as flush as I'd like.
