F that no subie motor. cool in a vanagon but not for baywindows. there was a brown one for sale in montana for 30 grand. he put the radiator underneath with a air scoop.

my stock type 4 motor is rated at 96hp. and i think Rabys camper special is like 150 with stock 2.0 displacement.

Glad to see your getting closer to a bus in your garage. i just towed mine home from my moms yesterday, almost watched it roll over while getting towed on a tow dolly. thats a whole other story..

yep we can work something out on this spare motor.

Well I settled the details and will be picking the bus up on Sunday with the help of Randy and Matt. It's gonna be a fast day trip up and back to Laurel, but if anyone is interested in coming with I'm sure it would be OK - we will probably need the extra hands. We will be pulling in to the Zoo about 12 hopefully.

I need a Type 4 motor, so 4est please PM with what you want for yours.

So far...the budget is still uber geizig.

Ordered and will be here tomorrow:
  1. Volkswagen Station Wagon/Bus: Official Service Manual
  2. John Muir's "How to Keep Your Volkswagen Alive 19 Ed: A Manual of Step-by-Step Procedures for the Compleat Idiot
  3. How to Rebuild Your Volkswagen air-Cooled Engine

Thanks 4est, I will check out that video - I just DL'd the Aircooled Tech podcast and I'm listening to it right now. I'm on the trail of that 2L here in Billings and I am going to look at it Saturday. If it will fit in the Bus, I will buy it, but let me know what you want for that 1700. I'll keep updating with pics.

Go get it Mike! Aircooled is the way to go. If you are in a hurry in a Bus, you missed the point, buy a minivan.

 Yup that is the truth! I drove by the parts bus tonight and it's a champagne edition so if anyone needs any specific parts just holler. I just need the engine and all the FI parts.

Well, we missed going up this last weekend so I've somehow procured a vehicle and a trailer (thanks to Randy) to pull up to Missoula this coming weekend (May 1st - 2nd). Plan is to make it up on Saturday afternoon, go to pick up the bus in Stevi, and then head back find a place to stay and drop the trailer.

It'd be nice to GTG with the Missoula guys - anyone down for Saturday night? A few extra hands would be nice if anyone wants to come along - I will have plenty of room in the Yukon XL for extra passengers  I will buy beers (or sodas) for helpers

Plan is to head out Sunday morning and try to hit the Bozeman GTG @ RMR around noon, if anyone will be there.

Cool! I mentioned this in the other thread, but if you know how to get in touch with Forrest or Kevin I would like to know what he wants for that 1700 engine.
