Today at work I found a penny, nickel, and a SOLAR PANEL

Post by Mill3niumThr33 »

I just found a new toy in a new beetle at work. When they transport the new cars they plug a solar panel into them through the obdII port so the battery charges. They sometimes leave them in the cars and forget about them so its fair game. Should be sweet to use to keep my batt from dying or getting low from my carputer or when im gone for a while and leave the car at the airport.

Heres a link to one of them for reference. If anyone wants me to nab one for them next time i see it lemme know.

Those are so cool man - what other can manufacturer puts those in their cars? That's one more reason why Audi/VW are awesome.

I will be on the look out for them from now on. Its kinda tough because the techs go through the car first and do the initial inspection so if they dont find them it comes to me for a cleaning and I get them.

Then it sounds like you need to makee makee friends with some of the techs. If they are taking them out, they must have boxes of them somewhere!

Also, you said that it plugs into the OBD II port? Are you sure it is not the cigarette lighter socket? This would be cool to make sure that my GTI's battery is always tip top. Not that it dies now, or anything, but you can always use some peace of mind, ya know.....

I have two of those from when I worked at the dealership here, I gave a bunch a way and wish I still had them, they work really well.
