TSB info please...

Post by Mikewire »

Can anyone get me some info on a TSB regarding an Airbag MIL on a B6 A4? The specific code is referring to a "drivers side airbag igniter - resistance too high". I understand there is a "kit" with a bypass connector of some sort, but only available from the dealer. Has anyone heard of this and is the kit available?

I think I saw something about it in the Bently manual. The kit was something that you wire in when working on the system so that the bag doesn't deploy. I haven't heard of a bypass kit, other than to tell the airbag light to go away. I have the same problem with by B5 A4 Avant.

Nah, it's just a connector issue, and not the airbag. Something with the gauge of the wires in the connector is too small. This dealer only kit supposedly bypasses the connector and adds an additional set of wires, and drops the ohms.

There is a TSB about it, FWIU. I just need to find someone who knows about it and see if I can get more details. I bet the same issue with your rig too.

This also may have happened when I put the seat all the way back to vac the carpet. I guess it pulls just enough to throw a code.

Aeron, maybe you should pull your t-reg seat out and check the connector. Throw some di-electric grease on it.

Well if that is the case, search on, sherlock! Let me know what you find, I would LOVE to not have to pony up the flow for a new bag

Aeron, I found TSB 69-05-02 and repair parts: 7L6 953 014 A, 4 connectors (111 971 941 A) and wire set (000 979 010).

Is this your DTC? : "01217 - Side Airbag Igniter: Driver Side (N199)"

No, mine is for the steering wheel bag I believe. I'll look it up again when I get a chance.
