Lapping Days
I did this event last year and it was amazing. It's at Miller Motorpark in Tooele, UT. If you haven't heard about this track, it's one of the newest and highest rated tracks around. It's a road course, you bring your own car, you race all day, and as much instruction as you want is avaliable for no additional cost. They break you up based on ability and space you out on the track. Based on your class, you have different passing rules. This year they are recording your lap times. Any car is welcome, last year it ranged from custom track cars, porshe gt3's, and even a passat wagon. I've included the link to the site below. The organizer, Jeff Blonder, is really helpful and will gladly answer any questions.

Last year I met up with a group from Boise, and am hoping to bring a few more people from MT with me this year. Cost is $350 for a single event. The latest event scheduled is Aug. 11th. Last year I went to an event in September. I'd prefer to go back again in September, but it's still too early to know if that date will be added.
For now I just wanted to get the word out, so anyone you guys can think about it. I'll add more info as the months go on.
Last years group I went with included:
(2) BMW M3's (this year one of the M3's will be left home for a Nissan Skyline)
C5 corvettte ZO6
Lotus Elise
Shelby Cobra

I would be extremely interested in doing this! I have done some track days with the Porsche club in Seattle, =and they were awesome! I guess it all depends on if I have the money for it. But I suppose that I have plenty of time to start putting it away. Anyway, sound cool!

I recieved the following email today:
FELLOW DRIVERS,
Many thanks for the overwhelmingly positive response to the 2007 Lapping Days Driver Development Program. The Program is filling fast, however, there are a number of you that expressed great interest but have not yet signed up. Please take a minute to go to our site www.lappingdays.com, download the forms, and register today. This program will sell out, we don't want you to miss out.
DRIVING DATES CONFIRMED
April 23rd, Monday, East track
May 21st, Monday, West track
July 23rd, Monday, East track
August 11th, Saturday, West track
PROGRESSIVE DRIVER DEVELOPMENT
I want to stress that this is a Driver Development Program, targeted toward all levels, from track day enthusiast to racer . Of the many who expressed interest a few weeks ago, we have some who already race, some who want to race, and some who merely want to improve their driving with lots of track time. . We won't push anyone beyond their capability or comfort level, but if you want to really learn in a focused environment, this is the program for you.
Much of the program goes back to the basics of car control at speed, and traction sensing skills. Corner entry, corner exit, carrying speed, putting the power down early and firmly. Even at the professional level, drivers fall back on the precision fundamentals, working to drive mistake free, lap after lap.
Each track day will be structured in a 2-3 run group format, alternating class and track sessions, with progressive lesson plans for each of the 4 dates. I will suggest books for us to read, with certain topics highlighted each day. We may also run segment timers to evaluate consistency, and look for areas where a simple change in line or braking can yield significant results. Too much to cover here in one email, plenty to fill four track dates!
THE PLAN
- Four events throughout the season
- Lapping Days format, 2-3 morning run groups, open track later in the afternoon
- Progressive classroom and on-track workshops each day
- Celebrity Pro as lead instructor one or two of the dates (** extra cost to be discussed with attendees)
- 3-4 hours of track time per day
- Drivers pre-pay 3 of 4 dates, or all four dates for a discount
- Cost is $950 for 3 days, $1,195 for all four ($350 for a single day)
We hope to see all of you soon ...

I am penciling in the May 21st date. Leaving Sunday morning, racing on Monday, and driving back Tuesday. Spots are filling so decisions need to be made fairly soon. Cost is $350 for the single day. We can split hotel rooms. I think a room was about $80 last year.
The American Le Mans Series will be racing 18-19th. The R10 will be there. There’s the option of going down early to watch racing on Saturday. Tickets are $50 for grandstands and $35 for trackside.

ValveFloat motivated me to post some pictures from last year.
Morning at Miller

KP in the Cobra about to have Miata for lunch, and Chuck in the Z06 ready to take the yellow boxer for a walk.

Next on the menu, GT3 gets realed in.

Ron in the Elise setting his sights on the SLK55 AMG.

Dueling M's

And last but not least. Some dubbage going into Turn 1, BRAKES!

Looks awesome, and I love the fact that the only Dub around is a Jetta wagon!!
P.S. I can supply some better protection for lights, rather than blue painter's tape for anyone going......clear, blue, yellow, smoke.....

Haha, I missed this post. If only I could knock a girl up and she'd pay for an RS4. The complete irony is that that statement is only obsurd because I'm a guy. Remember kids... pack your chute before you jump.Rennwagen1 wrote:Got her pregnant, huh? Time to trade in the S4 on an RS4 wagon.....

Anyway, on to more public service announcements. There will be an additional Lapping Days on Sept. 17th, below is the information I recieved.
Fellow Drivers,
Ken Garff Porsche has graciously extended an invitation to the Lapping Days drivers to join them on the Miller Motorsports Park East track, Monday, September 17th.
The Lapping Days staff, Jeff Blonder, Bob Read, and our fine, red clad instructors will manage the days activities. The format is familiar, with multiple run groups in the AM, heading toward open track later in the afternoon. Expect, as always, well over 3 hours on the track.
Cost for the day is a very reasonable $350, with a catered, sit down lunch included.
To sign up, contact Bryan Samuels < porschebry@hotmail.com > (801) 714-2300.
We hope to see you out there, with great weather and fine friends!
