Need help with coolant problem

Post by Nelms95VW »

So today after work, i installed a new turbo inlet pipe on my jetta which was not easy in the first place. After i got the pipe on, i drove my car home which is about 10 miles from work. I parked it in the driveway and went into the house to grab something and when i came back out to my car, it all of a sudden exploded and coolant shot everywhere. i think its a coolant hose from the overflow tank thing on the passenger side. could this have been caused by installing the TIP wrong? or is it just that the coolant hose was old? And just to add, my temp gauge was at normal and the coolant level was also normal. Any help would be appreciated, thanks,

Probably just an old coolant hose. I'd say replace it, refill with G12 and be on your way.

i had a similar problem with one of my coolant hoses, but i was on the freeway doing about 80...luckily i didnt lose to much coolant and the engine didnt get hot. it was the retaining clip, stupid"mechanic" couldnt figure it out i guess....check the hoses like mike said and check all clips, fastners, etc...would hate for the motor to go
