Look what was at my shop this week, UNIMOG!

Post by Unimoger »

My friend Dan is on his cross continental move from Indianapolis Indiana to Fairbanks Alaska and stopped in for a day to hang out, have a few beers and get out of the drivers seat for a day. His wife is driving their dodge cummins pulling a trailer, which they are going to load a brand new subaru on to today. He is driving his brand new 2006 U500 Unimog. They pulled in last night and I could not get enough of it, I was like a kid in a candy store. This thing is increadible and at $139K it should be.8) He is towing his fishing boat with it, the trailer weighs about 8000lbs and the boat weighs about 8000lbs, he said he would not even know it was back there if he didn't look in the mirror. Check out the winch, what size is on your truck? This one is 30,000 lb ramsey hydraulic:shock:

enjoy the pics, I am gonna drive it today, we are unhooking it from the boat and taking her out for a spin, will have pics of that later.

Whoa! that is a serious machine, its got more levers, switches, and hydraulic fittings (are those hydraulic fittings on the front and rear?)
than most implements.

Seriously, what would you really need that for?

I mean, I need one, but what would I need it for?

Actually I would put a tommy lift on the back and load stranded Rabbits that I find on the side of the road, and take them home.

That one is great. Like Renn said, I'd have no idea what I'd do with it, but I'd sure like one in my driveway. I know a goalie that has an old green military one. His other car is a Honda Insite. I guess it's a break even mileage strategy.

Yeah, I can't imagine the fuel bill for taking a Unimog and a diesel Ram to Alaska! That would be awesome. This is one of those times that you hope that someone is paying you to move, and then you give them the reciepts and thier eyes get as big as pie plates.....

Oh man, that's awesome. What kind of shop do you have? On another "fun odd truck" note. I friend of mine just picked up a Pingzauer (sp?).

If I had a Unimog, I'd go camping in it...to places most would have to hike
