FS: Parting out 16v B3 Passat...cheap!

Post by Mikewire »

Long story short, there was carnage and the B3 is now dead. But all the parts are up for sale. Anything from a B3/MKII 16v that you guys can use is going cheap - PM or post for the price. You pay shipping or pick up in Laurel/Billings. Maybe I'll make a trip to bring parts for beer.

Body is good - no rust. The interior is cherry - I replaced all broken panels and parts that rattled, and the engine (- the block and head) is perfect. Auto tranny :( , sunroof, power everything except seats. You guys get first shot at any parts, but I will post this on the Vortex too when I get some pics.

A+ parts - I can post some pics as soon as I take some tomorrow. PM me with any questions.

Edit: I should say also - if anyone has a good 16v for a swap I will sell the whole car! Did I say cheap?

Edit for pics:

I would say no, because they aren't labeled recaro. But I can take some pics and maybe you can tell me yah or nah.

As far as I know, no Recaros in Passats. And from the pics, that would confirm they are not. And I would be extremely surprised if the carpet fit also.

142,000+ change. But it's mostly toast. Story? Here it is:

So I pulled the head to look for bent valves, and they didn't look bad or bent and the head was pretty flat with a straight edge. So, I put a new gasket/bolts and everything torqued to spec. Drove it back a forth a bit...all good! So, up for sale. I get a guy who test drives it the other night, takes it out on a 2-lane north of Laurel, and he calls me with it broken down on the side of the road. Im like WTF?! He tells me that he was going 40mph speeding up and KABOOM and blue smoke blah blah, and now I'm really like WTF!!? So I drive out to look at the damage and it's fucked. I can't see because it looks like the damage is on the back of the head/block, but I have chunks of AL to prove there is a pretty big hole back there. Plus no coolant in the res. So, the block may be good, but the head is for sure done. Upper intake and the rest is fine. Exhaust looks good.
