Removing a MK3 trunk badge

Post by Darkside »

On the jetta, I read to use a heat gun and dental floss. I tried that but, the floss seemed to break a lot. I found that if you use kite string it cuts off the old 3m like butter. :D Then you can paint it up or replace it. Hope that tip saves you some time.

I did this also, but I was really lazy about it. I waited untill someone rear-ended the Jetta, then I instructed the body shop to not put the emblems back on the new trunk. SImple and effective. Total time, 3 seconds.

The adhesive on mine had gotten so bad that I just pulled them off with my fingernails lol. Then used some 3m adhesive remover to get the leftover adhesive off.
