Oh, Kenneth! That is quite the question. We have a car audio section just for stuff like that. What sort of parameters are we talking? Car, budget, goals? Maybe check.out that car audio section, so as not to threadjack this one....

Shift boot before

It's junk, fake leather and torn

New from a guy making these out of real leather in the UK

Remove the old, it's heat pressed on

All off, left with this. Reuse this part

There's a plastic collar thing that goes on the nipple part of the boot and holds the top of the boot to the shaft. Like how I used "nipple" and "shaft" in the same sentence and kept a straight face?

Needs a little bit of modification because of the Z3 shift rod I'm using. No big deal, just cut a little bit off with a knife.

Marking where the holes for the inner collar piece go.

And all assembled together.

Slip the boot over the shift rod and snap the ring into place in the console then enjoy the upgrade
