If I brought you my wagon, could you help me sand it to see how bad the rust is. do you think sanding it will reveal holes. I'm hoping it does not but I know how bad rust can grow. I'm looking at starting a business and I'll need to use the car until I get another Merc wagon to use too, once the beetle sells. I'm not too worried about the paint because I'll repaint the lower portion. If not that's cool, I'm having a hard time getting people here to do it.

I am always willing to help. But, I live in Butte. Also, I am not much for body work.... So, i could sand down all the rust and we could assess the damage. Then you'd need to get patch panels if its really bad, or just some sheet metal to fill in the gaps. And someone with far more experience than I would need to do that part. Sanding everything down is just exploratory. See if you can find patch panels online somewhere or if there is one of these E320's in the junk yard you could cut them out. Most likely you'll need them.

Once again. Matt just leave it be. Or you'll open up a can of worms.

Thanks for the advise. Wade I understand what you are saying but I at least have to get the paint off and see what it looks like. I don't know for certain but in my experience with rust it Don't believe it is through. If it isn't I need to fix it. and if it is then I made it worse, but I have to attempt it. I'm going top wait a bit and see if mechanically it is sound. and if so I'll save to fix it. I need it to last for my new business I'm starting. Eventually I need to buy a nother one. Considering selling the beetle.
Thanks for the help guys.
