Heater not warm

Post by paintballguy424 »

Ok so when I bought my car in Feb. the heater didn't work :banghead: . Figured maybe just needs to work whatever it has in the system through. But now August still no heater. Engine temp sits at 190 no overheating all hoses look intact and warm when tested. Coolant level ok, cabin air filter ok. Ideas heater core?
Thanks

When I replaced the water pump and changed the coolant on my 8v, the heater went from barely blowing warm to almost too hot. Could also be a vacuum issue with heater controls (consult uncle bently).
It's not how fast you go. It's how well you go fast.

Cole do you have climatronic or manual controls? Trevor is right if you have climatronic, but if you have manual controls they are old school cable IIRC.

could also be stuck open thermostat, although it would get pretty warm eventually. does it have any trouble when you try to switch the air from defrost to the floor? i.e. doesnt blow to the floor just defrost regardless of direction switch>?

It will defrost, and the air does move position to position.

Manual controls if that helps.

Sounds about right with the water pump but wouldn't I have other issues overheating etc.?

Sounds like your heat/cold blend flap is not working correctly and/or is stuck on cold. If you aren't overheating then it's not your thermo or your pump.

Is this located inside the cabin or in the engine bay?

As far as I know, it is in the cabin, up under/behind the passenger side dash.

HVAC control cables are of course right behind the manual knobs, just remove the cover and there should be 4 T25 screws holding it in. The rest is behind the dash, behind the center console/lower kick panels like Aeron said.
